Messy-Desk-sm.png A Message from the Messy Minister’s Desk

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! In his book Beyond Snakes and Shamrocks: St. Patrick’s Missional Leadership Lessons for Today  author Ross Lockhart (and Dean of St. Andrew’s Hall in Vancouver) gives a biography of St. Patrick that helps us transform his 5th century experience into 21st century application. “We know from Patrick’s writings that this study for missionary work was a difficult and soul-searching time of preparation for ministry. In many ways, that’s the struggle that mainline churches in particular have when it comes to theological education in North America today.” It’s a fascinating read! It turns out that St. Patrick’s day has  a lot more to do with evangelism then I thought. One of my favourite praise songs is The Lorica by Steve Bell- the words are based on a prayer attributed to St. Patrick. It can be heard here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhdhrYeh6PM
